Where have all the good people gone?

I spent last night in the emergency department of our local hospital worrying over my husband.

He called not 10 minutes after I posted last night screaming in agony after an evening bicycle ride around the neighborhood ended with a fluky slip on a patch of ice and an elbow so completely and grotesquely dislocated that even the attending doctors winced at the x-ray. (I almost threw up)

Kudos to the friendly and efficient staff who rushed him through a frantically busy emergency waiting room and had him on a morphine drip within 20 minutes of arrival.

Boos and hisses to the dozens of drivers who never stopped to offer assistance to a bloodied man out of his mind with pain, lying in a frozen snowbank beside a mangled bicycle.

Please direct your positive thoughts, good wishes and prayers towards the speedy recovery of my husband and an end to the stresses that have plagued our house of late.

I thought you people had about 60 feet of snow and it was -10 degrees up there. What was he doing out on a bike? You Canadians must be spectacularly hardy folk.

Get well soon! And maybe people didn't see him in the dark?

Nobody stopped? That is just sickening.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. He sure doesn't look like a very happy camper and I wince just to think of his injury.

Ouch Ouch Ouch...I hope he feels better soon...

That's just horrible that no one stopped. Unbelievable.

Hard core biking fanatic it appears to be out even when there is ice to be found.

I will pray for your husband's recovery. What is the recovery/course of action/plan?

He looks kind of young Rod Stewardish.

Wow, get well soon Rob!
Unfortunately, Canadians aren't the only ones who don't stop for stuff like this. My friend's husband had the same sort of accident a few years back and, same thing: nobody stopped. That is unbelievable.

Healing thoughts headed up your way!

No offense, but he looks like crap. God love his heart, he's gonna be telling this story for a long time. How terrible that people these days are so cold that they can drive right past a human in need of help. Positive thoughts sent North!

I am rushing madly all about ... where, oh where did I leave the keys to the STRESS BUSTERS van?!?! (If only I could come to your rescue! But, alas can not be there to tie your sadly banged-up husband's shoes for him or attend to those irksome chores that will be so difficult for him to manage.) But!! My love goes out to him [because he MUST be a great guy for God to have blessed him with You] ... and to You.)

Oh that picture. It really says it all. That poor man!!!! I hope he feels better immediately. Keep the meds coming!

I accidentally locked myself out of my car, at a stop sign, while it was running, with my newborn and not even two year old in the car, in the middle of winter, as I got out to clear the massive sheet of ice that slid down from the top of my car covering the windshield.
I stood in the middle of the street waving my arms trying to get people to stop so that I could call the police (my purse and cell phone were in the car too, of course). No one stopped for almost 10 minutes. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!
And a bloody mangled man in the street next to a bicycle and no one stops???? WTH?????

Wow. That looks really unpleasant.

Wow that's horrible. Hope he mends well and quickly.

A friend of mine had a similar accident where he hit some sand, then a bump and went head first over the handlbars. Hurt his face badly to the point of needing metal to put him back together. Not one person stopped to help him either.

Jerks.

Wow, he looks completely banged up. I hope he recovers soon. I had one of my worst bike accidents while we were living in Finland. Me on the bike wtih icy roads, I just didn't do so well. But it was nothing as bad as your husbands.

Oh my gosh! He looks terrible, what a horrible, freak accident. I don't understand why people don't stop to help in times like this either.

Hope he gets feeling "good as new" soon!

Oh your poor boo!! That pic of him is so sad and, well, pathetic. I hope you gave him lots of hugs and kisses, and I hope the doctors gave him lots of pain meds!!

Here's hoping he heals quickly and that his ego isn't bruised forever after being called out on his wife's blog!

P.S. I LOVE that you posted that pic of him. He's a good sport.

I'm just catching up on my blog reading, so I'm a little behind on the times.... So sorry to hear about hubby's accident! He really does look awful (great picture, though! *grin*) Hope he's feeling better soon!

I can sympathize with you on your dismay over the state of the human race. I've become very cynical about that sort of thing. Sadly, it doesn't surprise me at all that no one stopped. People think of no one but themselves anymore.

Yowzers! Poor Rob. That's downright scary that nobody stopped. I like to think I would have stopped, as would any of the bloggers I know. Bloggers, apart from being basically nice people, are always looking for material. ;)

Anyway, I hope he's feeling comfortable by now.
